Still have questions? Reach out to our team for personalised guidance or to schedule an appointment. We are here to assist you!
What should I expect during my hearing test?
Your appointment will begin with a short discussion about your hearing and any concerns you have. We will check your ears before selecting the most appropriate tests based on your individual needs. These tests are quick and comfortable, helping us build a clear picture of your hearing, enabling us to provide tailored advice based on your results.
How do I know if I need a hearing test?
A hearing test can be useful if you have noticed changes in your hearing, find it difficult to follow conversations, regularly ask people to repeat themselves or are experiencing symptoms such as blocked ears or tinnitus. During your appointment, we may perform a range of tests including pure tone audiometry, tympanometry and speech audiometry to assess different aspects of your hearing and ear health. Your audiologist will recommend the most appropriate tests based on your individual needs.
Can I have a hearing test if I have ear wax?
We will check your ears before carrying out your hearing test. In some cases, ear wax can affect your hearing or prevent us from getting accurate test results, so we may recommend having it removed first. If appropriate, we can advise you on the best next steps to ensure your hearing is assessed accurately.
Can I have a hearing test if I have tinnitus?
Yes, a hearing test can be helpful if you have tinnitus. During your appointment, we will assess your hearing and discuss your tinnitus symptoms, including when you notice it and how it impacts you. Your audiologist will recommend the most appropriate tests based on your individual needs and provide advice on the next steps if required.
Can I bring someone with me to my hearing test?
Yes, you are welcome to bring a family member or friend with you to your appointment. Having someone with you can provide extra support and help you remember information discussed.
